Cocréa = Collaborative, Organic Communication, Revolutionizing Embodied Awareness.
Whether you’re completely new to partner dance, have been dancing fusion or have a completely different embodiment practice, we’ll support you in taking your dance experience to the next level! This weekend includes a two-part offering: a foundational segment on Saturday, and a more intermediate level segment on Sunday for those ready to deepen their practice. Sign up for one or both!
Cocréa is as much a path of personal development as it is a training ground to become a better dancer. This weekend will be an exploration of intimacy and refinement in listening – both with the self and with others. We will embrace form and structure as our teacher and deepen into a practice of presence with one another.
As we train foundational elements of partner dance – structure, form, rhythm, steps – into our muscle memory, we will be led by our curiosity into the freedom mastery affords. Inquiries to guide our discovery will be:
• What is the difference between body awareness and embodiment?
• What energy best supports listening?
• How can we use body awareness to achieve the embodiment of a clear intention?
Themes we’ll play through:
• Polarity – the mutable energetics of lead and follow
• Change and Co-Creation
• Stretching into discomfort and uncertainty.
These will be the pools in which we swim towards the Universality of Dance embedded in the phrase: Dance Your Life!

Over the last 5 years, they have brought mindful movement practices to organizations and businesses such as The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and The Metropolitan Group with Awake at Work, Design For Dance, CBX and Freedom Personal Development retreats. Teaching as featured presenters at festivals and in communities across North America since 2011, they have presented at Stanford University’s Design For Dance Conference promoting dance in the workplace, several much celebrated three-day retreats, and are contributors to the published work, “ReInhabiting the Village” – a comprehensive volume outlining best practices for co-creating sustainable, intentional community. Their work together in co-producing the memorable Connexus events has been instrumental in inspiring an interest in intentional partnered dance.
They have been instrumental in instigating Fusion dance communities in Port Townsend WA, Nevada City CA, Sebastopol CA and Nelson BC making them valued pioneers and leaders in the emergent movement for conscious partner dance.
Wren is a celebrated TEDx, Body Intelligence Summit, and Conscious Dancer Podcast speaker. He holds a BA in Drama and Dance from the University of Washington. In Portland, Antje produces the Nectar Fusion Project, an interactive monthly Fusion dance bridging the worlds of partner and ecstatic dance, and DJed and live music. Their work is deeply influenced by nature, relationship, mindfulness and messing up.
Building on the foundational elements of social partner dance technique as our common language, Cocréa teaches how to wield creative expression with consideration to another body and practice nuanced responsiveness to one another in improvisational, co-created dance. It is a gateway to accessing the body’s wisdom to deepening Self and relational attunement. Our intention is to explore form and play creatively from our heart, body and spirit, in full support and appreciation of ourselves and one another.
